		<description>If we are to maximize the next generation of assessments, we need to develop multi-faceted assessments that evaluate both knowledge and assessment of performance.  We need assessments that are both externally developed and classroom developed.  And we need to make sure that those assessments and the standards they are based on are aligned with international benchmarks.  It is the only way to truly compete.</description>
