Next Steps for ISTE Connects
Hello, Everyone. My name is Marlene Nesary, and I’m ISTE’s Communications
Manager. I’ve been so proud to watch the growth of this community.
I’m also proud of and thankful for the expert guidance of ISTE Connects
Community Manager, Kaya Hardin, these past few months. With her sudden
passing on November 9, I lost a valued colleague, a patient and engaging
teacher, and a dear friend.
We’ve come a long way since launching ISTE Connects last January, but in the
spirit of social media we know that change and reinvention are the norm. So
here we go into the future.
Before I introduce you to our new Community Manager, let me pose a question:
What’s going well and what can be improved in our online community? What
brings you to this site and what keeps you coming back? What can we do to
make ISTE Connects work for you? Thanks in advance for your input.
Now, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Katie Stansberry, the new ISTE
Connects community manager. She wears many hats. You may have met her (as
Katie Pontius) at NECC 2007 or NECC 2008 where she could often be found
chasing down interviews for stories in The Daily Leader. Or you may have
seen Katie’s profile on the ISTE Community Ning. Katie is pursuing a
doctorate in communications at the University of Oregon and teaching classes
in social media. I’m excited to see what Katie will bring to ISTE Connects
and what she’ll learn from you.

Please join me in welcoming Katie to ISTE Connects. Help get her off to a
good start by sending in your thoughts and suggestions for the future of
this awesome learning community!
Thank you.
