Schooling Together

school of fish

Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. That’s why we’re asking you to help choose one of our keynote speakers for the ISTE 2010 conference in Denver…and why we’re asking you to do it together in ISTE’s first ever fully crowdsourced keynote project.

Starting today, you can log on to http://iste2010.uservoice.com/ to nominate topics, suggest speakers, and discuss with the rest of the ISTE community. Once nominations for topics have been collected in Round 1, you can suggest and vote for your favorite presenters in Round 2, and majority rules.

Sound crazy? We don’t think so. You’ve been asking for more ways to help shape ISTE conference programming, and we’ve been listening. Last year you helped determine topics for the conference keynote debate, and you came through with an exciting panel of debaters. This is your chance to publicly nominate topics you’d like to see addressed in Denver, and who you’d like to see discussing them.

One more thing: Along the way we’ll be giving away some fun prizes, from cool ISTE gear for members who suggest the most popular ideas in Round 1, all the way to coffee with the keynote speaker at the conference for the member who nominates the final speaker selection in Round 2.

ISTE has always been your professional association, your conference. Now it’s time to sign your name to it. So log on, nominate, vote, discuss, and watch democracy in action. For complete contest details and rules, learn more at www.iste.org/iste2010-keynote.

This is an excellent idea. Thanks for providing this opportunity for input, and for modeling the use of uservoice.com. This is very similar to Google Moderator. Excellent tools for soliciting input via a voting mechanism.
